Financial intelligence shouldn't be locked in finance.
When every manager has clarity on their numbers, the whole organisation performs. The belief that started IDU in 1997 — and the one that still drives every decision today.
From a Cape Town garage, in 1997.
IDU began with a single insight that the industry is only now catching up to: the people responsible for performance were locked out of the financial intelligence they needed to perform.
ERP systems — for all their power — had created a walled garden around financial data. Most organisations had powerful systems that recorded every transaction, but lacked a collaborative environment where managers could plan budgets, adjust forecasts, and understand performance in real time. The finance department held the truth. The people who needed to act on it could not access it, could not understand it, and could not shape it.
So IDU was built differently. Not another tool for the office of finance — a planning and intelligence layer designed for the person on the ground. The cost centre manager. The department head. The operational leader who lives with the consequences of the numbers but never had a seat at the table.
Close to three decades later, that insight has not changed. Many of the earliest customers are still here. The product has evolved — from on-premise to cloud, from static reporting to AI-driven insight — but the founding belief remains the same.
When every manager has clarity on their numbers, the whole organisation performs.
Three statements. One direction.
01Mission
To give finance and operational managers a single place to plan budgets, update forecasts, and analyse performance — automatically connected to the data in their ERP.
02Vision
To become the global standard for collaborative financial planning — where every manager has the tools to plan, adjust, and act on their numbers in real time.
03Point of view
A single version of the truth only matters if the right people can understand it, influence it, and act on it.
Beneath the belief sits the proof.
Streamlined
We simplify budgeting and forecasting. One platform, one data model, faster reforecast cycles, less manual consolidation. Budget cycles that took months now take weeks.
Connected
Top-down targets align with bottom-up detail. Assumptions link directly to forecasts. Actuals, budgets, and scenarios sit in one governed environment.
Strategic
Bottom-up budgeting, top-down budgeting, and assumption-based modelling in one connected planning framework — not three separate tools.
Intelligent
AI that assists, not replaces. Predictive forecasting at cost centre level. Two embedded agents — one for guided support, one for narrative financial intelligence.
