Aeris Resources
Aeris Resources replaces fragmented mining budgets with IDU's centralised platform.

“Overall, IDU has been an integral part of Aeris Resources, streamlining our budgeting and reporting processes and providing valuable insights into our financials.”
— Brian Thorpe, Commercial Manager, Aeris Resources
Aeris Resources is a mid-tier base and precious metals producer with a copper-dominant portfolio spanning three operating assets, a maintenance mine, a long-life development project, and a proactive exploration arm. The company runs a lean operating model, backed by an experienced board, with a growth pipeline that encompasses aggressive exploration and active merger and acquisition considerations. Aeris places strong emphasis on building partnerships with key communities, investors, and its workforce. That breadth — multiple assets at different stages, each with its own cost base — means any friction in the budgeting process surfaces quickly, and it was that friction IDU was brought in to resolve.
Across a multi-asset copper operation, the quarterly rolling forecast was where that friction showed up most sharply. Each cycle depended on mining physicals before costs could be generated, and that sequencing created bottlenecks that slowed the entire process. Data sat in disconnected sources, and the finance team spent the bulk of each cycle assembling numbers rather than interrogating them. Cost visibility against budget was difficult to maintain cleanly across assets, and scenario planning was constrained by the time it took just to produce a base case. The strategic cost was clear: a team capable of analysis and commercial advising was locked in data assembly instead.
IDU's integrated budgeting, forecasting, and reporting platform gave Aeris Resources a single environment built around the way a mining operation runs. The structural change was the automation of budgets around mining physicals: once mining physicals were entered, cost generation followed automatically, removing the sequencing bottleneck that had defined every previous cycle. Rolling forecasts could run each quarter against a consistent, centralised set of assumptions rather than being rebuilt from scattered inputs.
Aeris ran both SAP and Pronto across its asset base, and IDU connected to both — pulling actuals into a single consolidated view and pushing reporting data through to Power BI for month-end analysis. The platform supports real-time collaboration across managers and advanced scenario planning capabilities, enabling teams to stress-test assumptions without rebuilding the base case from scratch. With no manual consolidation in between, the team's effort shifted from assembling the numbers to working with them.
Four outcomes followed from that shift. Budgeting cycles became faster and smoother, with cost generation driven automatically by mining physicals rather than held up waiting for manual inputs. Consolidating budgets, forecasts, and actuals into a single environment gave Aeris a unified view across its assets — one that reduced the inconsistencies and errors that fragmented data sources had introduced. Managers gained clearer sight of costs against budgets at any point in the cycle, making cost control a continuous practice. And with the assembly work removed, the finance team could direct its attention toward investigation and commercial advising — the analytical work the business had always needed but rarely had the capacity to do.
Partner perspective
"We are thrilled to see how IDU has benefited Aeris Resources over the years. The successful integration with both SAP and Pronto highlights the flexibility and adaptability of our solution. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Aeris Resources and supporting their growth and efficiency improvements across their operations." - Rob Jones, IDU
