The very first BURGER KING® restaurant in South Africa opened its doors in May 2013. A joint venture between Western Cape-based investment company, Grand Parade Investments, and BURGER KING® Worldwide.
BURGER KING® South Africa was launched in the Western Cape and continues to expand nationally. with more than 102 restaurants across five provinces in South Africa.
BURGER KING® South Africa implemented the Budgeting and Reporting Modules of IDU in 2016. At the time they were using Excel for their Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting, and as they grew this was becoming exceedingly complicated with many cost centres and legal entities spread across various geographical locations.
After reviewing a number of different solutions, they invested in IDU. According to Chryzanthia de Waal, Finance Executive of BURGER KING® South Africa one of IDU's key differentiators was how cost-effective the system was, this meant that they could afford to roll the solution out to their entire business.
IDU is a functionally rich out-of-the-box solution, that interfaces seamlessly with the existing ERP system, making the implementation a quick and easy process.
IDU is an intuitive, user-friendly, web-based solution, which meant that it could be rolled out quickly and easily to all 102 BURGER KING® stores with minimal staff training required. Users are able to have access to their own information and review their results in real-time without having to wait for finance to send them a report at the end of the month.
According to Chyrizanthia the budgeting and forecasting process has improved significantly in terms of the speed and accuracy of their budgets as well as in the way they are able to view their reports.
Results can now be reviewed in a lot more detail and the month-end close is a lot quicker and more efficient.
