Founded in 1902 in Durban, Corobrik is South Africa’s leading manufacturer and distributor of clay bricks, pavers, and allied building products. With 15 factories and centres nationwide, plus exports to global markets, Corobrik offers customers a complete spectrum of brick and paving solutions.

THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE

As Africa’s largest brick manufacturer and distributor, Corobrik operates 15 factories and the country’s most extensive distribution network. With exports reaching the US, Japan, Dubai, and across Africa, the company’s budgeting process had become too complex for spreadsheets.


The top‑down approach, starting at each factory and imposed across all levels, was cumbersome and inefficient. Sales and operational managers struggled with a system that lacked flexibility and transparency. Corobrik needed a solution that could handle multiple factories, retail centres, and product lines while empowering managers at every level to contribute meaningfully to the budgeting process.

THE SOLUTION

In 2003, Corobrik implemented IDU‑Concept’s Sales Planning and Reporting Modules. The system enabled bottom‑up budgeting by representative and product, reducing the time spent capturing budgets to just one week. Managers could now build accurate sales budgets per region, sales office, representative, and product, with automatic calculations for sales revenue, cost of sales, and transport costs.


The web‑based platform provided flexibility across multiple companies, currencies, and product levels, while accommodating seasonal variations in demand. By streamlining sales planning and reporting, IDU empowered Corobrik to improve capacity planning for its 15 factories and deliver more accurate, timely financial insights.
